INDIA: DIABETES CAPITAL WITH 101 MILLION DIABETICS, URGENT ACTION REQUIRED
The report warns of an explosion of cases in low diabetes states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal because of the huge number of pre-diabetics there, even if Goa, Puducherry, and Kerala have the greatest number of cases. According to research by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) that was published in The Lancet and also highlighted the rise in other lifestyle illnesses, India now holds the dubious distinction of being the diabetes capital of the world, with more than 101 million diabetics living there.
